Developing Faith

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE BIRTHDAY EMAILS. I tried to respond to everyone so this will be a short email...

It was an awesome week and an awesome birthday. I played a lot of fútbol today and we had a barbecue so I certainly am not missing out on anything.

Quick thought from this week-

On Sunday we will have a baptism of a kid named Nicolas and he's a fantastic kid who lives with his grandparents. For a long time his whole family was inactive in the church and many have spent some serious time in prison. We passed by my second Monday with Elder C and the whole family was there (or at least a lot of them). It was an incredibly spiritual lesson and since then, they've all started becoming active and many are doing everything they can to get married and put their lives in order. There is just a special light in the eyes of everyone in that family. Everyone except the grandma. She is also becoming more active and generally comes for an hour of church and then leaves to go work. Last night we asked her if she would stay the whole 3 hours of church and then for her grandson`s baptism. She said she would go to church, leave then come back for the baptism. Usually I wouldn't think twice about that, but my companion and I both felt that wasn't good enough and began talking about faith. We asked her where her faith is at on a scale from 1-10. She said 5, we asked her to be honest, she said 2. For the next 1.5 hours we talking about the importance of developing faith and our personal testimonies and it was an incredibly spritual experience that left everyone with at least a few tears. It made me really think about how we need to develop our faith. We aren't born with it and if we don't develop it, it will be lost.

That's all for this week. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes!!!
